If you are looking for a sturdy, safe, comfortable, seaworthy vessel that anyone from age 9 to 90 can handle,
you have found it in our fiberglass version of the original
L. Francis Herreshoff's Buzzards Bay 14 footer. She is
a 17' 9" daysailor that can sail six people comfortably
and handles anything from a light drifter day to rough
water churned up by the southwester of a typical summer
afternoon. This is the perfect boat for both the new sailor
just learning the ways of the sea, or the more experienced
sailor who appreciates a vessel of this caliber.
When you study the lines of the Buzzards
Bay 14, you will note her fine entry with a slight forefoot
cutaway. This gives her the ability to cut through chop,
point high and tack quickly. The ballast is set low
in the keel for stability. Combined with the above and
the graceful lines of her underbody gives her a sea
kindly motion in all types of sea conditions.
